Celebrating 3 Decades of Sincerity, Loyalty & Unity

On December 1st, 2017, Hermanas from across the country will return to Binghamton University to celebrate 30 years since the founding of Sigma Lambda Upsilon, Señoritas Latinas Unidas Sorority, Inc. This historic milestone will highlight the legacy of our founding mothers and recognize the achievements of Hermanas who have left their mark along the way.

REINVIGORate your señorita spirit

Dust off your photo albums, break out your SLU PARA, and start practicing your strolls. This year’s convention is chockfull of activities that will ignite spirit and make you Rrrrraaaaaaah!

Travel back 30 years with our Señorita exhibit, story-telling sessions, and historical tours. March alongside our founders in the longest SLU line the sorority has ever seen. And because every Hermana is valuable in her own way, mark your place in history with our Hermana mosaic and family tree.

Finally, celebrate those who are living the legacy of our Hermandad during our awards ceremony and banquet reception.

The weekend is filled with opportunities to connect with women who share the same values and experiences as you. Every session is designed to help us strengthen our bond as Hermanas and connect us to the goals and ideals of our Hermandad.

Workshops

Our Values and Our Legacy Facilitated by: Hermana Maria Delgado and the CPC

9:00 - 9:50 a.m.

Doubletree by Hilton Hotel | Endicott & Johnson Rooms |

As we build our own legacy and reflect on the legacy set by the Hermanas that came before us, it is important to discuss what we consider valuable in this process. Stakes are high at this workshop and you’ll have to put some money on it! We are auctioning off valuable ideals, be there to place your bid.

Our Legacy on Campus Facilitated by: Hermana Deborah Lopez

10:00 - 10:50 a.m.

Doubletree by Hilton Hotel | Endicott Room

This workshop focuses on how to establish your identity on campus. Learn how to control the message you send to others on campus. How do they see your chapter? How do you see yourselves? How do you stand out from other organizations? Does your programming reflect the real you? Answer these questions and more...

Get Unstuck: Making Power Moves Mid-Career Facilitated by: Hermana Rosann Santos

10:00 - 10:50 a.m.

Doubletree by Hilton Hotel | Johnson Room

Are you feeling stuck in your current job or career? Is your company ignoring your training needs or requests for higher level work? This workshop will give you some best practices for asserting yourself and advocating for your needs so that you can move out of middle management and into the C-Suite.

Living the Legacy Facilitated by: Hermana Deborah Lopez

Panelists: Hermanas Bianela Colon, Thaina Gonzalez, & Amanda Rodriguez

11:00 - 11:50 a.m.

Doubletree by Hilton Hotel | Endicott Room

To develop professionally, we must also develop personally. This workshop will give you the skills you need to balance your personal and professional life while still giving back to the organization. A panel of Hermanas will discuss how they manage the many stages of their lives (i.e. graduate school, career, marriage, motherhood, etc.) while remaining strong positive members of the Hermandad and their community.

Beyond the Legacy Facilitated by: Hermana Alicia Arana

Panelists: Hermanas Rianna Miller, Delmy Hermandez, & Jazmin Aguilar

11:00 - 11:50 a.m.

Doubletree by Hilton Hotel | Johnson Room

Many Hermanas have acquired invaluable professional skills and abilities as well as developed their personal passions to impressive levels. Some Hermanas have found a way to contribute their talents and skills to their chapter, Graduate Professional chapter, and/or region. We don’t always need to contribute at a national level to make a positive impact in our Hermandad. This workshop will showcase Hermanas who have brought their professional experience and personal talents to SLU endeavors.
